PMY is The Digital Communications Provider to The Royal & Ancient Golf Club (R&A) for all Open Championships across The United Kingdom. Their role in the 2022 Open Championship encompassed various services.
PMY provided advisory services for the design and implementation of an underground permanent fibre backbone, ensuring seamless connectivity throughout the course. They managed and liaised with IP network and cable infrastructure providers, meeting all client and host venue requirements. Working closely with the host venue, PMY executed end-to-end planning to preserve aesthetics and course conditions. They successfully deployed and managed the IT network and WiFi, featuring over 700 access points. Moreover, PMY took charge of all IT & AV equipment deployment, including Hospitality TVs, IPTV, and Large format LED Walls. They also handled the complete CCTV system for security and crowd safety, offering onsite technical support throughout the Championship week. Additionally, PMY provided production support for event presentations, press conferences, and broadcast production for the client's in-house TV channel.
The 2022 Open Championship benefited from PMY's comprehensive services, experiencing uninterrupted digital communication with the underground fibre backbone implementation. The efficient management of the IT network and WiFi ensured smooth operations during the event. PMY's expertise in handling AV equipment and providing production support contributed to a compelling Championship experience.
