PMY | Platform Infrastructure Lead

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Platform Infrastructure Lead is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and management of the infrastructure that underpins the OPTIC Platform.

This role requires a deep understanding of cloud and on-premises infrastructure technologies, as well as strong leadership and collaboration skills to drive the development and optimisation of the platform infrastructure.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Architecture Design:

Lead the design and architecture of the platform infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance to meet the organisation's current and future needs.

Implementation:

Oversee the implementation of platform infrastructure projects, including cloud migrations, network upgrades, server deployments, and storage solutions.

Management:

Manage the day-to-day operations of the platform infrastructure, including monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities to ensure high availability and performance.

Security:

Implement and maintain robust security measures for the platform infrastructure, including access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management, to protect against cyber threats and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Optimisation:

Continuously optimise the platform infrastructure to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance performance, leveraging automation and best practices.

Collaboration:

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, operations, and security, to ensure alignment and integration of platform infrastructure with business objectives and initiatives.

Leadership:

Provide leadership and guidance to a team of infrastructure engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in platform infrastructure management.

Stakeholder Management:

Engage with internal stakeholders, external vendors, and service providers to assess requirements, evaluate solutions, and ensure the successful delivery of platform infrastructure projects.

Documentation:

Maintain comprehensive documentation of the platform infrastructure architecture, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and support.

Continuous Improvement:

Drive continuous improvement initiatives for the platform infrastructure, identifying opportunities for enhancement and innovation to support business growth and agility.

General

Demonstrate values and attitudes that promote healthy and safe behaviours.

Take ownership of assigned issues and manage incidents/requests through to resolution.

Ensure strict adherence to all policies and procedures for both self and the group.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.

  • Proven experience in infrastructure management and team leadership.

  • In-depth knowledge of network architecture, cloud services, and security best practices.

  • Strong project management skills with a focus on delivering results.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Certifications such as ITIL, CISSP, or relevant vendor-specific certifications

  • ·Analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience managing multiple tasks and delivering results in an agile environment.

  • Outcome and solutions focused.

  • A comprehensive understanding of ITS and support service best practice methodology, such as ITIL and application to hardware & applications; monitoring and logging of supported services to ensure SLA compliance.

  • Understanding and working knowledge of AWS

  • Linux Server Administration

  • Experience with backup and anti-virus systems

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Postgres

  • Familiarity with PKI infrastructure

  • Experience configuring reverse proxies & cache servers such as Squid or Nginx

  • Understanding of networking technologies and principles (Switching, routing, firewalls, VPN’s etc)

  • Understanding of relevant industry protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, TCP/UDP, RS232, etc)
